The Super Bowl itself was a defensive battle until it reached the fourth quarter. The Giants needed an 83-yard touchdown drive in order to take the lead with only two and a half minutes on the clock.
On a long third-down play Eli Manning was trapped in the pocket but managed to get away and throw the ball to David Tyree resulting in the greatest catch in Super Bowl history.
The Giants went on to score on that drive and stop Tom Brady and Patriots for Eli Manning’s first Super Bowl win.
Super Bowl XLVI Eli Manning’s Second Ring
Funny enough the second time Eli Manning went to the Super Bowl he was also facing the Patriots.
This year the underdog storyline was back again. Though the Patriots weren’t the same powerhouse as 2008 this team went a solid 13-3 in the regular season and of course were so far undefeated in the playoffs.
The Giants this year were even worse than the previous Superbowl season finishing the regular season with a 9-7 record. This record earned the second wild-card spot AKA the last position to get into the playoffs at the time.
This game was also fairly low scoring overall, it started with the giants getting off to a nine-point lead.
Brady and the Patriots then responded scoring seventeen straight points of their own. Though after this point it was all Giants.
The Giant’s defense managed to shut out Tom Brady and the Patriots for the entire fourth quarter.
Eli Manning then finished off the game with an 88-yard touchdown drive socred with only fifty-seven seconds remaining in the game.
This marked Eli Mannings’s second Super Bowl ring and second time beating Tom Brady in the Super Bowl.

The bigger difference throughout these players’ careers is the number of times they made it to the Superbowl.
Eli Manning went to the Superbowl two times, both of which he walked away as the winner. Peyton Manning went to four Super Bowls in his career winning two and losing two.
